OVERVIEW

A buccal lipectomy patient may experience facial swelling following surgery. However, the swelling should dissipate on its own within about 2 to 3 weeks. After the swelling stops, the cheeks will start to look thinner and more contoured. It generally takes about seven to 10 days for the tissues inside the mouth to recover following buccal fat pad removal.

5 to 7 days post-surgery, eat a soft diet, take small bites with no wide mouth movements and properly hydrate.

Sleep on your back elevated for 2 weeks, at a 30° incline, with approximately 3 pillows.
Use Cold compress made of Frozen Peas
For the first 48 hours, use cold compresses made of frozen peas to minimize swelling and help with discomfort.

You may gradually resume exercise 4 weeks after surgery; light walking is okay and recommended. Listen to your body; if it hurts the treated area- Stop.
