WHAT DOES THE LASER HAIR REMOVAL PROCEDURE ENTAIL?
The first step of the procedure requires the application of a specialized gel that maximizes the delivery of laser light to the hair follicle. Then, the laser tool will be used to trace the entire area that is being targeted for hair removal. This process will be repeated once or twice to ensure that the laser has effectively reached all of the hair in the targeted area.
When tracing the procedural site, the laser will feel hot, which is why we will provide a “Zimmer Chiller” cold-air supply to reduce discomfort to the area that is being treated. This is a tool that the patient can use to direct and control a super-chilled air supply to the “hot” area during treatment.
We offer a number of different methods to maximize the effectiveness of the hair removal process, including the best lasers for hair removal. In our office we carry and utilize the “gold-standard” 810 diode laser, the long-pulsed NdYAG laser, and hair-specific IPL therapy. Our ability to offer the best hair removal packages will ensure that you receive the treatment and outcome you desire, and is precisely what sets The Esthetics Center apart.
Approximately 20% of hair follicles in the skin are in a susceptible phase for treatment, which means that optimal hair reduction will require multiple sessions of therapy. These sessions are spaced apart, and will usually be conducted every 4-6 weeks.
If a smaller area is being treated, we can safely apply topical anesthetics to further reduce any discomfort during the treatments. However, this is not appropriate to do when larger areas (such as a man's back, or a woman's leg) are treated because large doses of the topical medication can be harmful. Our doctor will inform you of this situation well in advance of your procedure.
