Do:
Apply Aquaphor
With a Q-tip, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor or Petrolatum ointment to each nostril a minimum of 2 times daily.
Clean Nostrils
Use diluted hydrogen peroxide 50/50 water mix, apply the mixture with a Q-tip to each nostril 2 times a day.
Spray Saline Every 30 min
Spray the inside of your nose with saline spray every 30 minutes while awake. Start this right soon after your surgery to prevent crusting and build-up. Continue this for 14 days.
Replace Drip Pad
Replace drip pad as necessary with folded gauze.

Have a cool-mist humidifier at your bedside.

Sleep Elevated
Sleep on your back elevated for 2 weeks, at a 30° incline, with approximately 3 pillows.
Use Cold compress made of Frozen Peas
For the first 48 hours, use cold compresses made of frozen peas to minimize swelling and help with discomfort.

Stay hydrated and eat a healthy well balanced diet.

Do not bend over or bump your nose/face for 4 weeks.

Sneeze
Do not sneeze. If you must sneeze, open your mouth while sneezing.
DO NOT
Blow Your Nose
Do not blow your nose for the first 3 weeks after surgery. You can help clear debris by keeping your nose constantly moist with saline spray and gently breathing out of your nose instead of blowing.
DO NOT
Fly
Do not fly, such as in airplanes and helicopters, for 2 weeks.
DO NOT
Wear Glasses
Do not wear glasses for 6 weeks. If you must wear glasses, they must be taped to your forehead or use a nose bridge protector, RhinoshieldTM, and/or Nose-guardTM.
DO NOT
Swim or use saunas
Do not swim, use hot tubs, or saunas for 4 weeks.
DO NOT
Perform Strenuous Physical Activity
Do not perform strenuous physical activity, including athletic activities, intercourse, aerobic exercise, weight training, heavy lifting, and any straining. You may gradually resume exercise 4 weeks after surgery; light walking is okay and recommended. Listen to your body; if it hurts the treated area- Stop.
