Juvéderm Voluma is, without a doubt, the most popular Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler we use at Esthetics Center. We love Voluma because it is one of the longest-lasting and most robust HA fillers on the market. Voluma can add significant volume to the face, making it an excellent product for the cheeks, temples, jawline, chin, tear troughs, and nose. What’s best about this powerhouse of a filler? It lasts and lasts thanks to Allergan’s amazing Vycross technology, which means you’ll be loving your results for as long as 18-24 months!
Understanding the difference between each HA filler can be quite confusing, so here's the inside scoop on what makes Voluma so special...
Firstly, it is meant to add significant volume to the face. Voluma takes up a lot of space-- it's very robust. This makes it an excellent product for the cheeks, temples, jawline, chin, tear troughs, and nose. It's not meant for subtle "smoothing" or "hydrating" type enhancement-- this is a product that's intended for heavy lifting. We inject it deeply, and it acts as a support structure. We want to see a noticeable improvement in the area we're treating.
Secondly, whereas most Hyaluronic Acid fillers last for 6-9 months, Voluma lasts for up to 18-24 months. One of the main reasons for its long-lasting results is that it features Allergan's patented Vycross technology -- a trademark of all the Allergan fillers that start with a "V" including Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella.
Juvéderm Voluma was designed for deep injection in the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss. It's also excellent for treating tear troughs, temples, the jawline, chin, and nose. Our patients love the structure and volume that Voluma creates, and they are especially happy with this particular filler's longevity.
Every dermal filler appointment at The Esthetics Center begins with a consultation with Dr. Rice or one of our skilled nurses to discuss your goals and concerns. We will also assess your medical history during this consultation to help choose the appropriate treatment and product. Before beginning any injections or other treatments, we will take before and after pictures to track your progress towards achieving your goals. Depending on the number of areas to be treated, you will be out the door and able to resume normal activities within 30-60 minutes with just a few instructions for aftercare.
Juvéderm Voluma is one of the longest-lasting HA fillers on the market. This is due in large part to Allergan’s amazing Vycross technology -- a patented blend of long and short-chain Hyaluronic Acid molecules that allows the filler to be formulated softer or stiffer, depending on its intended use. Voluma is the densest of the Juvederm fillers, and it lasts between 18-24 months. Every person’s body responds differently to filler, and that is why we are so happy to offer a range of products to suit all of our patient’s needs. Choosing the most appropriate product for you is something we will discuss.
We know for sure that using filler consistently does tend to yield better results in the long run. So we recommend finding a doctor or nurse you trust and developing a long-term plan that will keep you looking your best. We’d love the opportunity to build this kind of relationship with you!
Most patients find dermal filler treatments quite tolerable. To increase your comfort level, we are also happy to offer topical numbing and icing to the treatment area. Whenever possible, we don’t use needles but will use a blunt-tip cannula because it is safer and less traumatic to the tissue. This means less bruising, swelling, and downtime.
Juvéderm Voluma is safe and effective for the majority of patients. In fact, most dermal fillers are! Hyaluronic Acid is naturally occurring in the body, which means that it can be injected without a high risk of an allergic reaction or other side effects. Anyone who wants to add volume and structure to the cheeks, tear troughs, temples, nose, jawline, or chin can achieve long-lasting and beautiful results with Juvéderm Voluma. It can be used in conjunction with laser and BOTOX, but you should speak to the doctor or nurse about a comprehensive treatment plan. We don’t recommend fillers for pregnant or breastfeeding women or may have any active infections or wounds in the treatment area.
No. Our goal is never to make people look unnatural or overdone. As the saying goes, “The best injectable is undetectable.” We want to treat everyone to what we call “full correction” because it is not only the most natural-looking result, but the maintenance is less frequent and less expensive in the long run. A thorough and comprehensive skincare program is also key to looking your best and maintaining the longevity of your esthetic treatments.
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, and it is considered safe and effective in restoring volume. As with any medical or cosmetic procedure, the most important thing you can do is make sure you see a licensed and trained professional. This not only ensures that you are getting high-quality products but that they will be injected correctly.
The main side effects of any injectable treatment are bruising, redness, swelling, and mild discomfort during the healing phase.
Aftercare for Juvéderm Voluma is minimal. However, following a few simple suggestions can help minimize your downtime and discomfort. We recommend you refrain from using makeup or skincare products on the day of treatment. You should not engage in heavy exercise for 24 hours. Sleeping with your head slightly elevated will also decrease swelling.
There are also some things to avoid before your treatment to minimize discomfort and bruising. This includes stopping any food, supplement, or medication that thins your blood, including ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, flaxseed, and alcohol. You may use arnica supplements before the treatment and during the recovery phase to minimize bruising and swelling. If you are unsure if something you are taking might interfere with your treatment, please call our office, and we will be happy to assist you.
We love Juvéderm Voluma, and our patients do too! We would be thrilled to show you how the Juvéderm collection of fillers can help smooth lines, add volume around the eyes, cheeks, and temples, create contour around the chin and jawline, AND plump your lips.
