Juvéderm Ultra Plus is one of the most popular Hyaluronic Acid fillers in the industry, considered the gold standard of lip filler. It creates gorgeous volume and structure in the lips while also maintaining a soft and natural feeling. Whether you’re hoping to replace lost volume or add an extra “pop,” Juvéderm Ultra Plus will help you achieve the smile of your dreams without looking overfilled.
The Juvéderm family of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers is one of the most widely used collections of injectables on the market today. The range of Juvéderm fillers includes Juvéderm Ultra, Ultra Plus, Volbella, Volluma, and Vollure. Juvéderm Ultra Plus, one of the most popular fillers in the collection, is used to smooth deeper areas of wrinkles or where a more dramatic contour is desired. While it is incredibly versatile, it's one of our favorite products to use in the lips because of the soft and natural look and feel it creates.
One of the most popular fillers in the world, Juvéderm Ultra Plus, is excellent for treating moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth -- including marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and cheeks. Where it really shines, though, is in its cosmetic elegance in the lips.
Every dermal filler appointment at The Esthetics Center begins with a consultation with Dr. Rice or one of our skilled nurses to discuss your goals and concerns at length. We will also assess your medical history during this consultation to help choose the appropriate treatment and product. Before beginning any injections or other treatments, we will take before and after pictures to track your progress towards achieving your goals. Depending on the number of areas to be treated, you will be out the door and able to resume normal activities within 30-60 minutes with just a few instructions for aftercare.
Juvéderm Ultra Plus typically lasts between six and nine months. Every person’s body responds differently to filler, and that is why we are so happy to offer a range of products to suit all of our patient’s needs. Juvéderm Ultra Plus is formulated with Hylacross technology, which means that the HA molecules are all of the same molecular weight. Some patients find that this filler is metabolized faster than other products that use different molecular weights, such as Volbella, Voluma, and Vollure (formulated with the longer-lasting Vycross technology). But the density of these fillers are all different as well, so choosing the most appropriate product for you is something we will discuss. We know for sure that using filler consistently does tend to yield better results in the long run. So we recommend finding a doctor or nurse you trust and developing a long-term plan that will keep you looking your best. We’d love the opportunity to build this kind of relationship with you!
Most patients find dermal filler treatments quite tolerable. To increase your comfort, we are also happy to offer topical numbing and icing to the treatment area. Whenever possible, we don’t use needles but will use a blunt-tip cannula because it is safer and less traumatic to the tissue. This means less bruising, swelling, and downtime.
Juvéderm Ultra Plus is safe and effective for the majority of patients. In fact, most dermal fillers are! Hyaluronic Acid is naturally occurring in the body, which means that it can be injected without a high risk of an allergic reaction or other side effects. Anyone who wants to add smooth volume and structure to the lips and smooth wrinkles around the nasolabial folds or marionette lines should be able to achieve long-lasting and beautiful results with Juvéderm Ultra Plus. It can be used in conjunction with laser and BOTOX, but you should speak to the doctor or nurse about a comprehensive treatment plan. We don’t recommend fillers for pregnant or breastfeeding women or may have any active infections or wounds in the treatment area.
No. Our goal is never to make people look unnatural or overdone. As the saying goes, “The best injectable is undetectable.” We want to treat everyone to what we call “full correction” because it is not only the most natural-looking result, but the maintenance is less frequent and less expensive in the long run. A thorough and comprehensive skincare program is also key to looking your best and maintaining the longevity of your esthetic treatments.
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, and it is considered safe and effective in restoring volume. As with any medical or cosmetic procedure, the most important thing you can do is make sure you see a licensed and trained professional. This not only ensures that you are getting high-quality products but that they will be injected correctly.
The main side effects of any injectable treatment are bruising, redness, swelling, and mild discomfort during the healing phase.
Aftercare for Juvéderm Ultra Plus is minimal. However, following a few simple suggestions can help minimize your downtime and discomfort. We recommend you refrain from using makeup or skincare products on the day of treatment. You should not engage in heavy exercise for 24 hours. Sleeping with your head slightly elevated will also decrease swelling.
There are also some things to avoid before your treatment to minimize discomfort and bruising. This includes stopping any food, supplement, or medication that thins your blood, including ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, flaxseed, and alcohol. You may use arnica supplements before the treatment and during the recovery phase to minimize bruising and swelling. If you are unsure if something you are taking might interfere with your treatment, please call our office, and we will be happy to assist you.
We love Juvéderm Ultra Plus, and our patients do too! We would be thrilled to show you how the Juvéderm collection of fillers can help smooth lines, lift and contour cheeks, and plump your lips.
